New for 2010

Often called 'digital puppetry' or 3D computer generated movie making - MachiniMania will take kids beyond traditional machinima* and allow them to use virtual sets, customized actors and props to make their very own movie where they provide the voices. Learn real skills in film-making like camera angles, 3D facial puppeteering, special effects, the importance of lighting and working with a digital timeline.

This camp is for those who want a 3D movie making camp without having to learn 3D modeling and just want to start animating! You’re the director as you control customized 3D actors to follow the storyboard/script you have written in 3D worlds you create and where you control the cameras.

Scenes from your movie will be inspired by the movies 'War of the Worlds' and 'Independence Day' - where alien roots have landed and are bent on destroying the world's landmark buildings. But whether you decide to make a sci-fi thriller or turn it into a comedy is up to you! A cameo by Prime Minister Stephen Harper courtesy the Government of Canada.

Their final movie will be burned on to a DVD to take home!

(recommended for ages 10-14)

*Parents: we do not rely on computer game engines to generate the animations, partly due to the fact that most of the games used for machinima are rated M and because we strive to teach transferable skills and these platforms are too limiting

You can even make your own characters using images
from the Internet or your own photo
