Our Staff

FUTUREKIDS' staff is comprised solely of certified teachers with a Bachelor of Education degree and most have numerous other academic qualifications and years of teaching experience:
Clifford Chan Hi! I am the owner of FUTUREKIDS, which I started it in 1996 as a franchisee of FUTUREKIDS Inc., based in California as a way to combine a love of technology with a goal to work with kids. Having also taught computer technology at five private schools in Ottawa at the elementary and senior level - I now operate FUTUREKIDS only during March Break and the summer and pursue other business interests and taking care of our three dogs.
Raquel Hi! My name is Raquel. This is my fourth summer with FutureKids and I am really looking forward to seeing the cool & creative websites, animations and games our campers make this summer. During the off-season (a.k.a the rest of the year), I work as a Grade 4 teacher where some of my favourite subjects to teach are math, computers and physical education. At home, I spend most of my time doting over my 4 year old Boston bulldog, Betsey
Jamie As a graduate of the B. Ed program at the University of Ottawa and a Nortel veteran I have a passion for teaching and technology. I've worked in the gaming software industry as a video game tester (every kid's dream job!) and as such put a lot of thought into what makes a good game. I teach on a volunteer basis and play video games in my spare time which makes working at FutureKids as fun a job as I could ask for. If I was still a kid I would be pestering my parents constantly to sign me up for FutureKids.

Stacie
Hi!  This is my fourth summer with FUTUREKIDS.  I'm a Math and Computer Science graduate with a B.Ed., and I have taught grades K-12.  My all time favourite camp is GME, but the movie making, cartooning, and animation camps are close behind.  I can't wait to meet all the new campers, and hopefully see some familiar faces from past summers.
Stephen Bio comomg soon!
Darin Bio comomg soon!
Garnet
I am a teacher with an engineering degree and a passion for technology.  When I'm not around gadgets, I'm playing with my kids and finding a bit of time for snowboarding and travel.

Ben

Hello future students!  My name is Ben and this will be my second summer with Futurekids.I pursued my Bachelor of Education after completing an Undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science, where I worked with Artificial Intelligence and Simulation.I am now a certified teacher who has worked in the OCDSB for the last 2 years.

I have been playing video games since I was 5 years old!  From Arkanoid to Zelda, I'm as close to a video game historian as you can get! I have also used computers since that age, when my father would bring home an Apple II from his school for me to use over the summer.

On top of that, I have an interest in animation, and worked for the OIAF in the fall of 2009.  Finally, I am an avid drummer and music collector.  I look forward to enriching your child's summer with technology!

Mike Mike loves flash animation and video editing and likes to get kids interested in behind-the-scenes production of movies. He always like seeing the weird and wacky ideas that campers come up with during their time at camp.
Alistair

I have been working with computers since the days of punch card technology, and acquired his first personal computer – a 16-pound suitcase that IBM dared to call “portable”! – in 1985. After earning a MBA and testing the waters of academia, publishing and management consulting, I saw the light in 2004, at which point I found my true calling as an elementary school teacher. My interests include digital photography, stamp collecting, reading (there are over 10,000 books at Alistair's house!) and Glee.

This is my fourth summer on the Futurekids teaching team.  I am a versatile and dynamic instructor, and harbour a not-so-secret preference for teaching Game Maker Extreme!
Jenn Hi, I'm Jen and this will be my first summer at FutureKids. I worked for 4 years in the IT industry trying to help make technology more enjoyable to use. After I realized that the most fun I ever had was as a day camp counselor, I decided to become a computer science teacher and joined FutureKids!

Bryan Hello, I'm Bryan, and I've always been interested in computer games and animation. I love to keep up to date with the latest technology and the newest games that the industry has to offer! I recently graduated from Ottawa U with a Bachelor of Education, and I'm looking forward putting it to good use here at FutureKids teaching you how to show your creative sides using technology. This will be my first summer at the camp, and certainly won't be my last!
Maheen   Welcome to FutureKids!  I am a 10-year bilingual veteran of the IT industry, having studied and worked in both Canada and the US, in English and French.  I have a passion for teaching, and working with children.  I want to bring technology to the forefront, and do whatever I can to help younger generations succeed. I teach Math & Computers, and my passions include Sports, Music and Art. I look forward to meeting everyone at this summer's camps - we're going to learn a lot, and have fun at the same time!
